UST Projector Screen Buying Guide
A screen is part of the optical system, not an accessory to think about after the projector arrives. Ultra-short-throw projectors have unusual light geometry, so screen material and orientation have an outsized effect on the final image. Use this guide to define the right category before comparing individual products.
Independent-guide note: Product-specific facts on this page come from published merchant information reviewed in September 2026. ScreenSignal did not independently lab-test this screen. Prices, availability and policies can change.
1. Confirm projector type
“Short throw” and “ultra-short throw” are not interchangeable. Verify that your projector is genuinely UST and note its recommended screen-size range. The featured NothingProjector 132-inch screen is sold for UST projectors only.2. Decide how much ambient light you need to manage
For a dark, dedicated theater, a conventional screen can work well. For a living room with white walls, windows or ceiling lights, UST ALR material becomes more attractive because it is engineered to preserve contrast under some room light.

Lenticular and Fresnel are the two terms UST buyers encounter most often. Both are directional optical surfaces. Lenticular material tends to be associated with broad seating and strong overhead-light control; Fresnel designs can be more directional. Compare the exact product rather than assuming every screen with the same label performs identically.4. Understand gain
Gain describes directional reflectivity. Lower gain can reduce raw brightness but support stronger black perception in an ALR design. Higher gain can increase brightness within a narrower cone. There is no universally correct number without projector output and seating geometry.5. Choose screen size after measuring
Use actual frame dimensions rather than diagonal alone. The NothingProjector 132-inch model is listed at 2897 × 1638 mm including border. Also allow room for speakers, furniture, ventilation, outlets and the projector’s required distance from the wall.6. Fixed or retractable
Fixed frames minimize mechanical complexity and are well suited to permanent home theaters. Retractable designs protect the room aesthetic but add motors, housings and tensioning systems. Decide this before comparing prices.7. Verify policies and shipping
Large screens can be expensive to return. Check regional warehouse availability, packaging dimensions, return windows, warranty conditions and any restocking or shipping exclusions before placing an order.
