What Is an ALR Projector Screen?
ALR stands for ambient light rejecting. The name is convenient but slightly simplified: the screen does not make room light disappear. Instead, its optical structure is designed to send more of the projector’s light toward viewers while redirecting or absorbing some light arriving from other directions.

Why ambient light hurts projection
A projector creates black by projecting less light, not by emitting “black.” When room light hits the screen, it brightens those dark portions of the image and lowers perceived contrast. That is why a living-room projector can look washed out even when bright scenes still seem powerful. How UST ALR material works
A UST projector sits below the screen and sends light upward at a steep angle. Lenticular UST screens use microscopic directional structures to reflect that light outward toward the audience while limiting a portion of overhead illumination. This is different from a conventional diffusive white screen, which scatters incoming light broadly.

View Current OfferALR is not universal
An ALR surface designed for a long-throw projector can behave differently from a UST surface. The projector angle is part of the optical design, so always match the material to the projector type. What ALR cannot fix
A bright source close to the projector’s incoming angle can still reach viewers. ALR also cannot compensate for a projector that is too dim for the screen size or for severe placement errors. Why the featured screen uses lenticular ALR
NothingProjector markets its 132-inch screen for UST use with 0.6 gain, 170° viewing angle and a 95% ALR claim. Its large seamless format targets buyers who want a living-room-scale image without a join across the screen.
